Why church?

There are almost no aspects of a church’s weekly service or production that can’t be found on your cell phone: with a few taps, you can hear incredible sermons from any one of thousands of incredible speakers; you can read any translation of the Bible you want (and find helpful commentaries and guides for it!); you can hear emotional and moving worship songs; you can find friends--both Christian and not--and maintain social relationships; and you can give to charitable causes or connect with local service opportunities. So, as we continue to take steps into the 21st century, it’s worth asking ourselves:

Why is it really worth being a part of a local church at all?

We believe that the church exists to serve as a witness to and a model of God’s love, as revealed in Jesus; to encourage everyone to take steps towards that love and to grow; and then, as we grow, to become instruments of God’s healing and justice in our world.
