This Week’s Announcements:

BECOME // WOMEN’S RETREAT OCTOBER 2-4!

On October 2-4, we will have this year’s women’s retreat! To change things up, add a bit more fun , and keep costs a bit lower(!), we will be heading to Delaware to spend the weekend at a rental house on the beach. We will be gathering for a fun weekend of sharing stories, digging deeper into our faith, and exploring our theme for this year of “Formation”.

BELONG// CHURCH CANCELLATION OCTOBER 4

We will not be holding a church service on the morning of October 4 when the women at Revolution will be at the annual women’s retreat.

BECOME// ARNOLD LOCAL GROUP DATE CHANGE

The Arnold Local Group changed their meeting night from Monday to Thursday. All are welcome! The group will meet at 7:00 PM. Please contact Maggie Young at youngmaggie14@gmail.com if you have questions.

BECOME// HERITAGE BAPTIST FOOD PANTRY AND GARDEN

Revolution supports the food pantry at Heritage Baptist Church, including the new garden that has been providing fresh greens all summer. On Saturday, September 26, we’re looking for volunteers to help with maintaining the garden by staining the fence and spreading mulch. We plan to start at 8:00 AM and finish by 10:00 AM. Please contact Steve Phillips, at 202-841-3116, if you’re interested!

BECOME // MEALS FOR THE HAVEN

Lindsey Wilkins coordinates an initiative to bring meals to The Haven, a “community living room” and resource space in the Clay Street corridor of Annapolis. The Haven serves many unhoused residents in Annapolis (along with other members of the Clay Street community), and as an entirely donations-driven initiative, they are always in need of things to give away! The Haven is a tremendous partner for us at Revolution, and the folks there are doing an incredible job meeting the needs of our neighbors with kindness and dignity.

If you would like to participate, you can sign up today to take over a meal! This effort has been successful here at Revolution, and we’d like to keep it going! We would love to continue to show them how much we care!

BECOME// NEEDLEWORK AND KNITTING GROUP

The next Needlework & Knitting Group will meet on Friday, October 16 at 7:00 PM at Kat’s house. All are welcome to bring snacks/dinner with you or just show up!  If you would like to learn to knit or crochet, we are here to coach you along!  You are welcome to join with any craft that you may like to do (cross stitch, embroidering, beading etc).  Please reach out to Kat for more information at katmahone@gmail.com.  We tend to meet monthly and plan our upcoming meeting dates together.

If you’re attending the Women’s Retreat, be sure to bring your projects so we can check in on each other’s progress and enjoy some crafting time together at the beach.

BECOME // OUTDOORS GROUP FALL ACTIVITY

The Outdoors Group is heading to Larriland Farm for our annual apple and pumpkin picking outing on Saturday, October 10 at 10:00 AM — easy to remember: 10/10 at 10!

We’ll meet at Larriland Farm for a fun morning of picking and enjoying the fall season together. There is a $3 admission fee for Pick Your Own, and tickets may be purchased in advance or at the farm that day. If you’d rather skip picking, you’re welcome to shop at the farm’s Country Store, which does not require an admission fee.

For more information, including questions about carpooling, contact Emily Heller at ehhel3986@gmail.com or Allison McNerney at amcnerney187@gmail.com.

We hope you’ll join us for a fun fall morning together!

BELONG // KENNY’S SABBATICAL

Kenny is currently on a three-month sabbatical, returning on November 11. Sabbaticals offer pastors an important opportunity to step away from the regular demands of ministry to rest, learn, reflect, and spend meaningful time with their families. We are grateful that Kenny will have this time to be refreshed and renewed before returning to his work with our church community.

During Kenny’s sabbatical, our lay leaders are working together to care for our church and ensure that ministries, groups, and community life continue throughout the fall. Kenny will not be available to respond to calls, texts, or emails while he is away. Please email care@revolutionannapolis.com if you have a question, need assistance, or would like to be connected with the appropriate lay leader.

The church is providing Kenny with a stipend to support opportunities for travel, reading, and rest during his sabbatical. Those who would like to contribute to the sabbatical fund may use the “Support Revolution” QR code on the Sunday program and select “Sabbatical Support” to make a one-time gift.

Please join us in praying for Kenny and his family during this time, as well as for our lay leaders as they serve and care for Revolution in the months ahead!

BELIEVE // PSALMS READING GUIDE FOR 2026

This year, we will be reading the book of Psalms together as a community! To help us meditate, focus, and pray together, the preaching team put together a study guide you can access at: http://www.revolutionannapolis.com/psalms .

We want to encourage everyone in our church to set a goal of studying five psalms each week. To help, we have prepared a few questions for reflection/discussion, as well as a brief prayer you can use to focus your time with God. The book of Psalms is an incredible resource for all Christians, as it does more than perhaps any other book in the Bible to show us a living example of how we communicate, both personally and corporately, with God. We genuinely believe that by spending a year engaging with these texts, our church community will emerge not only with a deeper faith, but also with a clearer understanding of what it means to be people of hope. Thank you for walking alongside us in this project!

BELIEVE // READ & DISCUSS THE PSALMS WITH FRIENDS!

Steve and Katie Phillips have started a conversation on the GroupMe app to accompany our study of the Psalms this year! You are invited to join in: share your reactions, connections, thoughts, and anything else that strikes as we read together this year. Please contact Steve (stephenphillips667@hotmail.com) or Katie (jhawkphillips@gmail.com) Phillips, and they can add you to the group!

BELIEVE // PRAYER TEAM & PRAYER REQUESTS!

Are there any areas of your life where we can support you in prayer? Please let us know your prayer request HERE, and our Lay Leader Care Coordinator, Joe Pfeifer, will be in touch. These requests will be kept confidential within the prayer team.

BELIEVE // COFFEE, ANYONE?

Do you have questions? Doubts? Would you just like to talk through things with someone? Just send an email to info@revolutionannapolis.com to set up a time to connect.

BECOME // SUPPORTING REVOLUTION CHURCH

At Revolution, we believe that our church needs to be a witness to God’s bottomless love and an example of what it means to wrestle and grow with our faith together. Following Jesus isn’t easy! But even in our doubts, if we take the things we are struggling to believe and put them into practice together, we learn to ask better questions and live in ways that are more beneficial for others.

If you want to join us in this mission, you can be a part in a few different ways:

First, you can commit to presence: it is our sincere hope as a church that you find real purpose and meaning in being a part of our services and groups at Revolution. They exist for you! But have you ever thought about what you have to offer those gatherings in return? Your unique perspective, hopes, experiences, and struggles are part of the bigger story of our church. You have an important part to play here, and that part begins by making faithful presence a priority!

Second, you can commit to generosity: we want to imitate God’s generosity by looking for ways we can share what we have been given with others to bring hope, justice, and safety to our neighbors. One way you can practice that generosity is by supporting our ministry here at Revolution financially: we are a non-profit organization committed to maintaining a Christian ministry in Annapolis, forgiving the debts of our neighbors, and financially supporting both church plants and existing churches in our area. Your gifts help keep this commitment going! But we also want to make sure you know that giving is important no matter where you do it: find a non-profit, charity, or aid organization whose cause you support and make a plan to be faithful and generous towards them! God can do more with our resources than we can… and giving is one of the practical ways we put our trust in what He can do.

Third, you can commit to service: here at Revolution, we are in need of all sorts of volunteers to keep our ministry going. If you are available to help out on any of our Sunday morning teams, or with any of our groups or other outreach ministries during the week, we need you! This is a great way to contribute to the church… and to make new friends.

The city of Annapolis needs help, too! If you are able, make time in your week to participate in a routine act of service for our community. There are multiple food pantries we support, all of whom need help, as well as opportunities to work with kids in need of tutoring, care for unhoused residents in our city who need assistance, and serve as an advocate for a variety of justice-seeking non-profits working to make Annapolis a more equitable place to live. For help a place to serve, just talk with Kenny (kenny@revolutionannapolis.com) or our Community Engagement Lay Leader, Cathy Miller (cathygrowinghealthy@gmail.com).
