This Week’s Announcements:
BELONG // FAMILY RETREAT WEEKEND RECAP!
This past weekend, many of us gathered for our annual Family Retreat in Berkeley Springs, West Virginia. We camped, we cooked, we sat by the fire... and a few of us visited the hot springs while we were at it! Good times were had, and if you missed the event this year, we hope you will make a plan to join us next spring! We will be sure to share the date well in advance (Kenny apologizes for taking so long to do that this year!), and we look forward to spending more time intentionally investing in friendships and community here at Revolution.
BELONG // OUTDOORS GROP HIKE/WALK
Come join the Outdoors Group for a hike/walk on Kent Island, Saturday June 6th at 10:30 AM. We'll meet at Terrapin Park, and then walk the nearby trails based on group ability (Cross Island Trail or Chesapeake Heritage Center) - we'll make it '4-legged' and kid-friendly for as much or as little as you can do. Wear comfy shoes, sun protection, bug spray, and bring your lunch for a picnic. Please contact Jen (jennifer.e.leong.jl@gmail.com), Allison (amcnerney187@gmail.com), or Emily (ehhel3986@gmail.com) if you're interested.
BECOME // ONLINE BIBLE STUDY: NEW SERIES!
Exciting news! Revolution’s Online Bible Study group will be beginning a new study in the coming weeks called "Meeting the Spirit.” This study focuses on the Holy Spirit, and it kicks off on May 11 (though you can join any time!). If you have been considering a Bible study, now is a good time to participate. Just see Dante Griffin (after church, or by emailing him at: dangriff67@gmail.com) for details and Zoom login information.
BELONG // WOMEN’S LUNCH AND PRAYER
The next 3rd Sunday of the month in May falls the weekend of the Family Retreat, and the 3rd week of June is Father's Day Weekend… so instead of meeting at our typical time, Emily would like to invite anyone interested to join her on June 7 to go out to lunch (exact restaurant TBD by those wanting to join!) and then a stroll around the West Street Monthly Art Fair afterwards. Regular Lunch and Prayer at Emily's will resume the following 3rd week of July (7/19). Please let Emily know if you're interested so you can meet up! (ehhel3986@gmail.com)
BELONG // SAVE THE DATE: WOMEN’S RETREAT 2026!
Please save the date for October 2-4 for this year’s women’s retreat! To change things up, add a bit more fun , and keep costs a bit lower(!), we will be heading to Delaware this year to spend the weekend at a rental house on the beach. The cost will be $130, and we will set up a sign up form soon… but we wanted to share the date so you can make it work with your calendars!
BELIEVE // PSALMS READING GUIDE FOR 2026
This year, we will be reading the book of Psalms together as a community! To help us meditate, focus, and pray together, the preaching team put together a study guide you can access at: http://www.revolutionannapolis.com/psalms .
We want to encourage everyone in our church to set a goal of studying five psalms each week. To help, we have prepared a few questions for reflection/discussion, as well as a brief prayer you can use to focus your time with God. The book of Psalms is an incredible resource for all Christians, as it does more than perhaps any other book in the Bible to show us a living example of how we communicate, both personally and corporately, with God. We genuinely believe that by spending a year engaging with these texts, our church community will emerge not only with a deeper faith, but also with a clearer understanding of what it means to be people of hope. Thank you for walking alongside us in this project!
BECOME // SUMMER MEALS FOR THE HAVEN
This past winter, Lindsey Wilkins started an initiative to bring meals throughout the week to The Haven, a “community living room” and resource space in the Clay Street corridor of Annapolis. The Haven serves many unhoused residents in Annapolis (along with other members of the Clay Street community), and as an entirely donations-driven initiative, they are always in need of things to give away! Through the colder months, Lindsey organized soup deliveries throughout the week to serve guests who use the space… and that effort was so successful here at Revolution, Lindsey wants to keep it going! However, with the warmer months upon us, she’s thinking it might be a good time to shift from soup deliveries… to more summer-friendly lunches, like deli sandwiches and salads.
If you would like to participate, you can sign up today to take over a meal! The Haven is a tremendous partner for us at Revolution, and the folks there are doing an incredible job meeting the needs of our neighbors with kindness and dignity. We would love to continue to show them how much we care!
BELIEVE // READ & DISCUSS THE PSALMS WITH FRIENDS!
Steve and Katie Phillips have started a conversation on the GroupMe app to accompany our study of the Psalms this year! You are invited to join in: share your reactions, connections, thoughts, and anything else that strikes as we read together this year. Please contact Steve (stephenphillips667@hotmail.com) or Katie (jhawkphillips@gmail.com) Phillips, and they can add you to the group!
BELIEVE // PRAYER TEAM & PRAYER REQUESTS!
Are there any areas of your life where we can support you in prayer? Please let us know your prayer request HERE, and our Lay Leader Care Coordinator, Joe Pfeifer, will be in touch. These requests will be kept confidential within the prayer team.
BELIEVE // COFFEE, ANYONE?
Do you have questions? Doubts? Would you just like to talk through things with someone? Kenny is also always up for that, too! Just send him an email (kenny@revolutionannapolis.com) or text (803.727.8500).
BECOME // SUPPORTING REVOLUTION CHURCH
At Revolution, we believe that our church needs to be a witness to God’s bottomless love and an example of what it means to wrestle and grow with our faith together. Following Jesus isn’t easy! But even in our doubts, if we take the things we are struggling to believe and put them into practice together, we learn to ask better questions and live in ways that are more beneficial for others.
If you want to join us in this mission, you can be a part in a few different ways:
First, you can commit to presence: it is our sincere hope as a church that you find real purpose and meaning in being a part of our services and groups at Revolution. They exist for you! But have you ever thought about what you have to offer those gatherings in return? Your unique perspective, hopes, experiences, and struggles are part of the bigger story of our church. You have an important part to play here, and that part begins by making faithful presence a priority!
Second, you can commit to generosity: we want to imitate God’s generosity by looking for ways we can share what we have been given with others to bring hope, justice, and safety to our neighbors. One way you can practice that generosity is by supporting our ministry here at Revolution financially: we are a non-profit organization committed to maintaining a Christian ministry in Annapolis, forgiving the debts of our neighbors, and financially supporting both church plants and existing churches in our area. Your gifts help keep this commitment going! But we also want to make sure you know that giving is important no matter where you do it: find a non-profit, charity, or aid organization whose cause you support and make a plan to be faithful and generous towards them! God can do more with our resources than we can… and giving is one of the practical ways we put our trust in what He can do.
Third, you can commit to service: here at Revolution, we are in need of all sorts of volunteers to keep our ministry going. If you are available to help out on any of our Sunday morning teams, or with any of our groups or other outreach ministries during the week, we need you! This is a great way to contribute to the church… and to make new friends.
The city of Annapolis needs help, too! If you are able, make time in your week to participate in a routine act of service for our community. There are multiple food pantries we support, all of whom need help, as well as opportunities to work with kids in need of tutoring, care for unhoused residents in our city who need assistance, and serve as an advocate for a variety of justice-seeking non-profits working to make Annapolis a more equitable place to live. For help a place to serve, just talk with Kenny (kenny@revolutionannapolis.com) or our Community Engagement Lay Leader, Cathy Miller (cathygrowinghealthy@gmail.com).
