This Week’s Announcements:
BELONG // POTLUCK & START OF ADVENT: NOVEMBER 30
On Sunday, November 30, we will be holding a really special service at Revolution: in addition to being a QUARTERLY POTLUCK SUNDAY, the 30th will also be the FIRST WEEK OF ADVENT! Kenny, Sarah, and our Sunday services teams are working on combining these two events in a new, authentic, and engaging way…and we are excited to worship together.
As far as logistics go, the potluck portion of the morning will BEGIN at 9:30 AM in the Mills-Parole cafeteria. Coffee, plates, and plasticware will be provided. We are asking folks whose LAST NAMES START WITH “A-M” to bring something SAVORY and folks whose LAST NAMES START WITH “N-Z” to bring something SWEET - this will make sure we have plenty of food! Then, our first service of Advent will BEGIN at 10:30 AM. Kids will be invited to participate along with adults in the worship service, but we will also have childcare available for babies-PreK.
BELONG// ADVENT DEVOTIONAL
The Advent season presents a wonderful opportunity for us to try out new resources for spiritual growth. This year, we want to let you know about a tool created by the Bible Institute of Los Angeles (BIOLA) called “The Advent Project.” The Advent Project is a daily devotional series celebrating the beauty and meaning of the Advent season through art, music, poetry, prayer, Scripture, and a written devotion. The project starts on the first day of Advent and continues through Epiphany. Their goal is “to help individuals quiet their hearts and enter into a daily routine of worship and anticipatory reflection during this meaningful but often hectic season.” The website is FREE TO USE, and we would love for you to make it part of your rhythm this season!

BECOME // THE HOLIDAY FAIR AT MILLS-PAROLE: LAST SUNDAY FOR DONATIONS!
This year, the school is seeking donations of gently used items (for both kids and adults… but no clothing!) for their Holiday Fair in December. So, clean out your closets and drawers so you can donate items to be made available for free to students so they can gift them to family members for the holidays! A table for donations will be out on Sunday mornings all month. Thank you for helping Revolution love and serve our neighbors here in Annapolis!
BECOME// HELPING OUR NEIGHBORS: SOUP FOR THE HAVEN
Our friends at The Haven (led by our own Lindsey Wilkins!) are serving soup to our unhoused neighbors! Lindsey has created a sign up for soup, and all you need to do is 1) make some soup and 2) drop it off for serving. Get in touch with Kenny for more details!
BELONG // TRIVIA WITH THE HAVEN
You know Dasher and Dancer and Prancer and…who, again?!
Our friends at College Creek are hosting a CHRISTMAS-THEMED TRIVIA NIGHT at the Haven on Sunday, November 30! Everyone is welcome to participate (and there is a rumor that Kenny might be co-hosting with College Creek’s pastor, Isaac Vineyard). Fun, food, and prizes will be available. If you’re interested in putting together a Revolution team (or joining in with folks from College Creek!), the party gets started at 6:00 PM at 36 Clay Street in downtown Annapolis. We’ll see you there!
BELONG // WOMEN’S CHRISTMAS PARTY & COOKIE/ORNAMENT EXCHANGE
On Saturday, December 20th, Sarah Kramer will be hosting our 2nd Annual Women’s Christmas Party & Cookie/Ornament Exchange night at her home in Severna Park! Sarah will be making dinner, and you’re invited to join in on the fun. Festivities will begin at 6pm—please let Sarah know if you’re planning to make it!
BELIEVE // PRAYER TEAM & PRAYER REQUESTS!
Are there any areas of your life where we can support you in prayer? Please let us know your prayer request HERE, and our Lay Leader Care Coordinator, Joe Pfeifer, will be in touch. These requests will be kept confidential within the prayer team.
BELONG // OUTDOOR GROUP CHRISTMAS SCAVENGER HUNT!
Come join the Outdoors Group for a Christmas-themed scavenger hunt in downtown Annapolis!
Details: Friday, December 19th from 7-9pm. We will meet at the Red Bean on Main Street to grab a hot drink, then we’ll set out. We’d love to see you there! If you’re interested in joining, please get in touch with Allison McNerney (amcnerney187@gmail.com) or Emily Heller (ehhel3986@gmail.com).
BELONG // ONLINE BIBLE STUDY GROUP
The Online Bible Study is a great place to get involved in community and expand your understanding of Scripture… all from the comfort of home! You are always invited to jump in with these studies any time! The group meets on Monday nights over Zoom, and for more information about how to get involved, just get in touch with our Discipleship Lay Leader, Dante Griffin, at dangriff67@gmail.com!
BECOME // SERVING OUR NEIGHBORS
At Revolution, we know the key to loving and serving our neighbors is to go where our neighbors are. This is how we embody and share the love of God for all people! There are lots of ways to do that—from hosting a cookout for your community, to becoming a regular at a local coffee shop, to joining a justice or service organization in our city, county, or state. There are also some partnerships between our church and other churches here in Annapolis that can help us make new connections and model deep and genuine care:
The Haven: our friends at College Creek Church operate a resource space on Clay Street that offers laundry and shower facilities for the unhoused community in Annapolis. This fall, College Creek’s vision is to keep this space open Monday-Friday from 9am to 4pm… and they need volunteers to make that happen! If you would be interested in signing up for a weekly shift, there are 3 time slots each day:
9-12, for serving unhoused neighbors
1-4, for serving unhoused neighbors
4-6, for maintaining an aftercare program for local elementary school children (background check required)
Click here to sign up for a slot today! If you are hoping for fun company, Kenny will be serving in the 9-12 slot every Monday and Thursday. We are so excited to be a part of this critically important local ministry. To stand up for our neighbors, we must first know our neighbors… join us as we show the people of Annapolis they are loved, they belong, and there is real hope for us when we step out and trust God and trust one another!
The Heritage Food Pantry: join Roy, Fred, Steve, and other friends from Revolution as we work together to feed 50 local families every week on Mondays and Tuesdays! Set up for the weekly event takes place on Monday afternoons from 4:00 to 5:30, and then the Pantry distributes food on Tuesdays from 9-11am. All you need to do is show up: they will put you to work!
Annapolis Lighthouse Shelter: the Lighthouse is an essential service provider in Annapolis for our neighbors facing homelessness. There are always volunteer needs, and all you need to do to get involved is sign up on their website for their next volunteer onboarding program!
Path to Hope: back in March, we had two representatives from Path to Hope come and speak with us on a Sunday morning at Revolution. Path to Hope works to serve the immigrant community in Annapolis by providing ready access to legal representation and other services. If you would like to get involved, get in touch with Kenny… or go to their website at: https://www.yourpathtohope.org/
BELIEVE // COFFEE, ANYONE?
Do you have questions? Doubts? Would you just like to talk through things with someone? Kenny is also always up for that, too! Just send him an email (kenny@revolutionannapolis.com) or text (803.727.8500).
BECOME // SUPPORTING REVOLUTION CHURCH
At Revolution, we believe that our church needs to be a witness to God’s bottomless love and an example of what it means to wrestle and grow with our faith together. Following Jesus isn’t easy! But even in our doubts, if we take the things we are struggling to believe and put them into practice together, we learn to ask better questions and live in ways that are more beneficial for others.
If you want to join us in this mission, you can be a part in a few different ways:
First, you can commit to presence: it is our sincere hope as a church that you find real purpose and meaning in being a part of our services and groups at Revolution. They exist for you! But have you ever thought about what you have to offer those gatherings in return? Your unique perspective, hopes, experiences, and struggles are part of the bigger story of our church. You have an important part to play here, and that part begins by making faithful presence a priority!
Second, you can commit to generosity: we want to imitate God’s generosity by looking for ways we can share what we have been given with others to bring hope, justice, and safety to our neighbors. One way you can practice that generosity is by supporting our ministry here at Revolution financially: we are a non-profit organization committed to maintaining a Christian ministry in Annapolis, forgiving the debts of our neighbors, and financially supporting both church plants and existing churches in our area. Your gifts help keep this commitment going! But we also want to make sure you know that giving is important no matter where you do it: find a non-profit, charity, or aid organization whose cause you support and make a plan to be faithful and generous towards them! God can do more with our resources than we can… and giving is one of the practical ways we put our trust in what He can do.
Third, you can commit to service: here at Revolution, we are in need of all sorts of volunteers to keep our ministry going. If you are available to help out on any of our Sunday morning teams, or with any of our groups or other outreach ministries during the week, we need you! This is a great way to contribute to the church… and to make new friends.
The city of Annapolis needs help, too! If you are able, make time in your week to participate in a routine act of service for our community. There are multiple food pantries we support, all of whom need help, as well as opportunities to work with kids in need of tutoring, care for unhoused residents in our city who need assistance, and serve as an advocate for a variety of justice-seeking non-profits working to make Annapolis a more equitable place to live. For help a place to serve, just talk with Kenny (kenny@revolutionannapolis.com) or our Community Engagement Lay Leader, Cathy Miller (cathygrowinghealthy@gmail.com).
