Feel free to bring anything to share, but it’s not required. Come on by for some nice Fall fellowship :) Hope to see you there!

BELONG // WOMEN’S RETREAT NOVEMBER 14-16

The Women’s Retreat is coming soon! At Revolution, retreats are a key part of how we build lasting and impactful friendships. They are a great chance to meet new folks, grow in our faith, and have fun together! This year’s retreat will be at West River Retreat Center in Mayo, Maryland, and there are options for folks who can stay overnight, as well as for folks who would prefer to stay at home and commute each day. If you would like to sign up, you can find the form HERE, or on our website at: www.revolutionannapolis.com/retreat

BECOME // SERVING OUR NEIGHBORS

At Revolution, we know the key to loving and serving our neighbors is to go where our neighbors are. This is how we embody and share the love of God for all people! There are lots of ways to do that—from hosting a cookout for your community, to becoming a regular at a local coffee shop, to joining a justice or service organization in our city, county, or state. There are also some partnerships between our church and other churches here in Annapolis that can help us make new connections and model deep and genuine care:

  • The Haven: our friends at College Creek Church operate a resource space on Clay Street that offers laundry and shower facilities for the unhoused community in Annapolis. This fall, College Creek’s vision is to keep this space open Monday-Friday from 9am to 4pm… and they need volunteers to make that happen! If you would be interested in signing up for a weekly shift, there are 3 time slots each day:

    • 9-12, for serving unhoused neighbors

    • 1-4, for serving unhoused neighbors

    • 4-6, for maintaining an aftercare program for local elementary school children (background check required)

Click here to sign up for a slot today! If you are hoping for fun company, Kenny will be serving in the 9-12 slot every Monday and Thursday. We are so excited to be a part of this critically important local ministry. To stand up for our neighbors, we must first know our neighbors… join us as we show the people of Annapolis they are loved, they belong, and there is real hope for us when we step out and trust God and trust one another!

  • Saturday Book Buddies: Sarah Johnston, a media specialist at Annapolis Elementary, is starting a Saturday “book buddies” program for the children she serves in the Clay Street neighborhood! The club will meet from 10-12 on Saturdays, and Sarah’s hope is to stir a real interest in reading for these children, meet their weekend food needs, and show them that they are loved by their neighbors in the church! She is looking for volunteers from compassionate churches in Annapolis, and we would love to be able to help. If you can serve once a month, click here to get connected!

  • The Heritage Food Pantry: join Roy, Fred, Steve, and other friends from Revolution as we work together to feed 50 local families every week on Mondays and Tuesdays! Set up for the weekly event takes place on Monday afternoons from 4:00 to 5:30, and then the Pantry distributes food on Tuesdays from 9-11am. All you need to do is show up: they will put you to work!

  • Annapolis Lighthouse Shelter: the Lighthouse is an essential service provider in Annapolis for our neighbors facing homelessness. There are always volunteer needs, and all you need to do to get involved is sign up on their website for their next volunteer onboarding program!

  • Path to Hope: back in March, we had two representatives from Path to Hope come and speak with us on a Sunday morning at Revolution. Path to Hope works to serve the immigrant community in Annapolis by providing ready access to legal representation and other services. If you would like to get involved, get in touch with Kenny… or go to their website at: https://www.yourpathtohope.org/.

BELONG // THE OUTDOORS GROUP WANTS TO PICK PUMPKINS!

The Revolution Outdoors Group wants to invite you to join them for pumpkin and apple this fall… specifically, on Saturday, October 25! More information will be coming in the weeks ahead, but go ahead and mark your calendars for this fun time outside in what promises to be cooler and more lovely weather!

BELONG // ONLINE BIBLE STUDY GROUP

The Online Bible Study is a great place to get involved in community and expand your understanding of Scripture… all from the comfort of home! You are always invited to jump in with these studies any time! The group meets on Monday nights over Zoom, and for more information about how to get involved, just get in touch with our Discipleship Lay Leader, Dante Griffin, at dangriff67@gmail.com!

BECOME // SUPPORTING REVOLUTION CHURCH

At Revolution, we believe that our church needs to be a witness to God’s bottomless love and an example of what it means to wrestle and grow with our faith together. Following Jesus isn’t easy! But even in our doubts, if we take the things we are struggling to believe and put them into practice together, we learn to ask better questions and live in ways that are more beneficial for others.

If you want to join us in this mission, you can be a part in a few different ways:

First, you can commit to presence: it is our sincere hope as a church that you find real purpose and meaning in being a part of our services and groups at Revolution. They exist for you! But have you ever thought about what you have to offer those gatherings in return? Your unique perspective, hopes, experiences, and struggles are part of the bigger story of our church. You have an important part to play here, and that part begins by making faithful presence a priority!

Second, you can commit to generosity: we want to imitate God’s generosity by looking for ways we can share what we have been given with others to bring hope, justice, and safety to our neighbors. One way you can practice that generosity is by supporting our ministry here at Revolution financially: we are a non-profit organization committed to maintaining a Christian ministry in Annapolis, forgiving the debts of our neighbors, and financially supporting both church plants and existing churches in our area. Your gifts help keep this commitment going! But we also want to make sure you know that giving is important no matter where you do it: find a non-profit, charity, or aid organization whose cause you support and make a plan to be faithful and generous towards them! God can do more with our resources than we can… and giving is one of the practical ways we put our trust in what He can do.

Third, you can commit to service: here at Revolution, we are in need of all sorts of volunteers to keep our ministry going. If you are available to help out on any of our Sunday morning teams, or with any of our groups or other outreach ministries during the week, we need you! This is a great way to contribute to the church… and to make new friends.

The city of Annapolis needs help, too! If you are able, make time in your week to participate in a routine act of service for our community. There are multiple food pantries we support, all of whom need help, as well as opportunities to work with kids in need of tutoring, care for unhoused residents in our city who need assistance, and serve as an advocate for a variety of justice-seeking non-profits working to make Annapolis a more equitable place to live. For help a place to serve, just talk with Kenny (kenny@revolutionannapolis.com) or our Community Engagement Lay Leader, Cathy Miller (cathygrowinghealthy@gmail.com).
